Being Not Doing

In Your presence is fullness of Joy; In your right hand there are pleasures for evermore”. Psalm 16:11

God so wants us to enjoy Him. A funny thought when we so often have so many demands and expectations on our lives. Above everything else He wants us to enjoy Him, because He loves us. He loves us so much.

We actually don’t have to do anything to earn or keep that love. He just loves us.

We simply need to turn our face towards Him and let ourselves experience that Love, to be in His love.

I remember years ago when we had just had our first beautiful baby girl Anna and I was wondering how to do everything and be everything.

God spoke to me and said,  “Just “be” instead of do” “Being rather than doing!” What a relief that was. God didn’t expect me to do anything just simply to be, to be in His presence, to be full in Him, to be joyful, to be happy.

Often when I am busy I will hear those words whispered again. “Just be, don’t do”. When I take notice and stop “doing”, then everything that needs to happen in my world flows. When I take my attention off Him and get into striving and doing, I always end up in a “pickle”.

We so need to practice just “being”, being in God’s presence, being in Him, knowing that we are already “in Him, connected  and having fullness of life in Jesus.” Col 2:10.

Spending today “Being” in His presence where fullness of joy is.

We have one thing God asks us to do “Stay in love” That’s it. We are to walk in Love.  Mtt 22:37

1 Corinthinas 13:7-8 tells us “Love bears up under anything and everything that comes..its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances and it endures everything (without weakening). Love never fails – neve fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end…”

God wants us to walk in love because “love never fails”. He wants the best for us, the best is found in love.

Galatians 5:6 tells us that our faith works though love. Faith forgives – faith lets go of things, of offense, hurt.

Jesus teaches us that “what things you so desire when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. And when you stand praying, forgive if you have anything against anyone.” Mark 11:24-25

Our faith works by love, it’s like a faith activator. Our hearts become engaged, our faith is activated to start believing and to start reaching out with love in action; and God gets involved, because He is the ultimate in Love. He Is Love!

Jesus showed us this when he ministered to those who came to Him. He was always moved with compassion and love to meet their needs. He still is!

I want to live like that. To focus my life on Love, and the One who is Love.

There’s always going to be opportunities to forgive and to put love to work. But if we focus on Love and God the source of Love, if we pursue it, practice it, study it and grow in it then our lives won’t be just a big noise, they will be a beautiful symphony J

I pray that we will be surrounded by God’s Love, overcome by His presence and that our hearts will be moved by the things that move His heart.
