chosen

If only I’d known what I was getting into”. It’s a comment we often hear, and may have even said ourselves. Or perhaps we say or think that about those close to us; our partner, friends, and work colleagues. If they’d known what they were getting into when they married us or became friends, or hired us, perhaps they wouldn’t have chosen us. Maybe they would have run the other way. Especially if they’d known our weaknesses, sin, brokenness, our crazy families, hidden secrets, and our not so great habits and behaviors.

But there is someone who has not, and never will run the other way. He knows it all; our past, future and everything in between. He knows all about the hidden places of our heart, our fears, hurts, anger, sin, and the things we never tell anyone else for fear of them rejecting us.

His name is Jesus, and He doesn’t really give a hoot about all the things that other people may say, or the thinking “if only I’d known…”He knew what He was getting into, and He still chose us. He still calls, and keeps calling our name. He is not shocked by our deepest darkest secret, or our desire for other things rather than Him. He still loves and accepts us. He knows us better than anyone else, and He still says there is hope and a future for us. He sees it all, and knows it isn’t just about the beginning of our life’s journey, but the ending, and all the things He’s planned for us in between.

Jesus said, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit–fruit that will last–and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” (John 15:16)

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.” (Hebrews 4:13 NLT)

Today, know that He knows what He is getting into when it comes to each one of us. He is not interested in our performance, but our hearts. He says it’s going to be all right, and to just keep walking, and don’t quit on yourself, or on Him being part of your life.

“Do not be afraid, because I have reclaimed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)

Prayer: Lord thank you that you know all about me, and you still want me. You even call me by name. Help me to listen to your voice, and the love you have for me above everyone else’s today. In Jesus Name Amen.
