As I write this I am at an altitude of 10972m, travelling at a speed of 920kmp/h. We’ve just flown over some snow covered mountains in Greenland, on route to Toronto Canada. In today’s world of technology and flight travel that does not seem as amazing as it once was in the early 1900’s when the Wright Brothers first recorded a few minutes of controlled flight. However when I look out of the window from thousands of metres in the air, after what will be 14 hours of sustained flight; complete with food, in house entertainment, and loudly flushing toilets, amazing it still is.

The truth is that we are all capable of so much more than many of us give ourselves credit for. Perhaps in fact many of us do ourselves, and the loving God who masterively created us a huge disservice by thinking less of ourselves than we ought, and therefore we live far below our potential. It’s people like the Wright brothers who choose to see limits and impossibilities as something God desires to overcome that change and transform the world for good. But is also important to realise that God never planned that pioneering, limit breaking type of lifestyle to only be for a select few. He expects us all to continually be growing, expanding, discovering, and successfully overcoming our own unique challenges and situation. Yes, some have a desire to breakthrough larger boundaries; to be pioneers in their fields, but that doesn’t mean the rest of us sit back and do nothing. God made us to all go from faith to faith, ever increasing in our capacity; in our faith, love, abilities and discoveries.

Unfortunately so many people don’t live that way because the devil doesn’t want mankind living free, without limits, co-creating with God, and enjoying life to its full potential. No, he wants us to kept small, beaten and incompacitatied by our fears and negative circumstances. He wants to steal, kill and destroy dreams and our energy and drive to overcome, by keeping us under our circumstances; under lack, low self-esteem and unbelief in both God and ourselves. He’d rather we remained beaten, complacent and faithless. (John 10:10)

Which is why we must stay connected to God’s goodness; putting  into our lives God’s words of faith, belief and limitless possibilities. It’s why everyday we focus ahead, and not behind, and choose to push past our individual limits; to face our fears, learn from, rather than be beaten by our setbacks and determine with God’s power at work in us to really live the life for which God made us uniquely for.

(As I finish writing this, thanks to those dedicated flight pioneers, I am gazing down, for the very first time at my first glimpses of Canada!)

Today, let the great many men and woman of faith and persistance who have gone before us, spur you on to breakthrough any limitations, fear, heaviness or lack. They are the bible says, the great cloud of witnesses who surround and cheer us on to lay aside every weight, distraction, disappointment and sin, so that we can run with perseverance the race that is set before us. And that as we do we will remember to focus on and remain connected to Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith, for all the strength and wisdom we need. (Hebrews 12:1-3)

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

Prayer: Lord thankyou for the amazing abilities you have created and released within me. Help me today to not think of myself less than I ought, but to stay connected to you, so I can live to my fullest potential. In Jesus name Amen.
