Life has plenty of opportunities to trigger us into having a melt down over circumstances that are beyond our control or just not a good cause for a huge drama.
Today was one of those days when one of our daughters lost something that she really does need. It is inconvenient in its loss and
will mean rethinking how she does things for the next few weeks. However in keeping life in perspective this lost item does not signify the end of the world, nor is it something that can’t be rectified…it merely, “is what it is” – inconvenient.
Today in fact posed a great opportunity for us to focus on the good things which are happening in our daughter’s life and to actively choose “not to sweat the small stuff”.
Plus I’ve learnt that the devil waits around for an opportune time to try an trip us up, tempt us to get into fear and just be annoying if we let him. Today with all the amazing blessings that our daughter has being experiencing I reminded her that “God always works all things together for our good” and that if the loss of this particular item is all the devil has got then she shouldn’t give him any room for victory over her or even give it much thought. Instead find a solution and move on. (Romans 8:28)
Today I encourage you to keep perspective. Most of what we stress about over a day or even a week we won’t even remember in a few years time. So make a quality decision for the sake of your peace and happiness and “don’t sweat the small stuff”. Instead focus on and talk about what God is doing and if you can, have a chuckle at your adversaries and any drama the devil might be trying to niggle at you with, because the “joy of the Lord is your strength and when we praise God He silences our enemies, makes our crooked places straight and we are able to see more clearly the light to which He has provided for our path. (Nehemiah 8:10; Psalm 8:2; Isaiah 45:2-7; Psalm 119:105)
Prayer: Lord thank you that you have everything in your control and that even when we face difficulties you promise that you will work all things together for my good. I choose to focus on you today and trust that everything will be just fine. In Jesus name amen.

Hi Dayle,
I’ve been been rethinking that phrase “don’t sweat on the small stuff”, and have actually decided to act on the small stuff because that could well be the straw that breaks the camels back.
I believe everybody has their lot and some are dealing with some pretty big issues which aren’t going to go away. However, even though they might not be able to shift the mountains, they might be able to do things that take the edge off.
I live with two serious chronic health/disability issues and both affect my legs but I don’t use a wheelchair and only use a walking stick in crowds and when I go to the city. However, while we were on holidays in January, a stick stabbed me in the side of my foot around my sandal and I needed to get five stitches. It wasn’t a huge cut and I really considered it fairly minor. However, the small cut represented a tipping point with my legs and I really struggled to walk and one day, was holding onto my husband and using my walking stick just to get down the street.
I now tend picture managing as being like an underwater iceberg. I have big things to deal with but if I can reduce the additional smaller stuff, I can manage.
Just some food for thought.
Best wishes,
Rowena
