What we think of ourselves is what we become. As the bible says, “as a man thinks in his heart so is he”. (Proverbs 23:7)
Which is why when we want to transform our life and begin to live the life for which we were created for we will need to challenge our thinking and any negative mindsets and essentially get rid of our “stinking thinking”.
One of the ways we can get rid of stinking thinking is to make a list and memorize five things Jesus says about us. The point of this exercise is to develop new positive ways of thinking about ourselves based on God’s truths about our lives.
When we proactively spend time thinking on the things that Jesus says about us we actually create new neural pathways in our brains. These pathways become mindsets that direct our thoughts and help us to visualise a different life, which then leads us to start to walk in the abundant life that God wants to give us. What we think is what we will expect and therefore draw into our lives.
Most of us desire to be transformed in some area and to be all that we were made to be. We cannot always change our life straight away, but if we change our thoughts God says He will transform our life as we begin to think and speak in line with what He says. He does the work in us as we open our hearts to His words about us.
Today don’t be “conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
Spend time thinking and memorising what Jesus says about you because as you think (and therefore believe) so shall you be. Think deeply upon the truth that you are loved, forgiven, a new creation, able to do all things through Christ who strengthens you, successful and blessed. That you have the wisdom of God and all the power and strength of heaven behind you. (Romans 5:8; 1 John 1:9; 2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Corinthians 2:16; Philippians 4:12)
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his mighty power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
Prayer: Jesus please help me to think about what you say about me rather than my past or any of the negative thoughts that can so often fill my head. Thank you that as I think upon what you say about me that you promise that you will transform my life. In Jesus name Amen.
