This morning I decided it was time for a detox and deep cleanse. It’s been awhile and my skin was looking and feeling dull and polluted. Not only does it it now feel better, but people have commented today how much brighter I look.
Todays simple detox made me realise how important it is to stop and cleanse not only our bodies but also our minds, hearts and spirits. We daily absorb pollutants which affect our bodies, but we also absorb things that can pollute and “block” up our thoughts, emotions and spirit in much the same way.
Unless we take the time to cleanse our inner life we can become so accustomed to the grime of the world around us and the stress and burdens of our everyday lives we don’t even realise how much we are carrying within us and how weighed down we are.
We know that a regular detox for our physical bodies is beneficial, but detoxing our inner world; our minds, hearts and spirit’s is also so valuable to us being able to live to our lives to the fullest.
We can easily pick up and carry burdens and loads we were never designed to carry. It’s why Jesus says, to cast all our cares upon Him because He cares for us, to forgive others and to seek Him and to pray about everything instead of worrying. (1 Peter 5:7; Phil 4:4-6; Matthew 6:14-16)
Detoxing our inner world means taking time to examine our thoughts, mindsets and hearts. Are we holding grudges, unforgiveness, bitterness, burdens or some other hurt? What dreams and goals are we working towards? How are our relationships with God and others, and what positive influences, people and places are we surrounding ourselves with?
Today I encourage you to schedule in some time to detox with Jesus. It will help to cleanse out the grime of the world, the cares you have been carrying and any attitudes, habits or hurts that have been dulling your shine.
Jesus said it this way….”Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
Prayer: Lord please help me to be more aware of the health of my internal world and to ensure that I make time to regularly detox from the things that would pollute and weigh down my mind, heart and spirit. I’m giving it all to you and ask that you cleanse and bring rest and peace to my life as I make time to detox. In Jesus name Amen.

Excellent message. Detoxing emotions is critical to renewing our minds. I did this recently. I was thinking negative thoughts about my twin sister, and I was not saying kind things. I asked God to show me why. After a time of quietness and being still in His presence He brought the memory of resentment that I had toward her. When we were teenagers, in anger, she broke a Hummel Music box my grandmother gave me for Christmas. I forgave her and prayed the prayer of healing for this memory. The prayer is in my book, “Hope for Complete Healing” on my website. God also showed me that I had no joy when I was with her. I asked Him why and again sat quietly before Him. He showed me, I had sadness from grade school when we were separated into different classrooms, then different grades. She is also very offensive and said and still says mean things because of anger, which also makes me sad. I forgave her and again went through the freedom/healing prayer, now I do not have negative feelings or talk bad about her. I know she is still toxic from the abusive home we grew up in. I have been setting boundaries on her anger and abusive speech, which she does not like.
