When my internet connection isn’t working the little buffering symbol on my screen pops up to let me know I have no connection. Until I gain connection I can do nothing on my device, regardless of how advanced the technology may be.
I’ve been thinking that our life can be much like my “buffering” connection, in that unless I am connected to God and who I’m called to be, I will simply spin my wheels but go nowhere fast. I’m essentially buffering, searching for connection and the power to be who I’m made to be.
One of my favourite passages in the bible is from John 15 in the bible, about the vine and the branches. It relates to Jesus being the vine and us remaining vitally connected to Him like a branch, so that all His power and goodness can flow freely into our lives – like a branch connected to the vine or like my device connected to the internet and it’s power source.
We were created to have a fruitful, amazing life and when we remain connected to God He becomes our power source where all things become possible. He promises that He will complete that which He started in us, and when He says something He will use all of heaven’s power and resources to bring it to pass.
Whenever I am struggling, tired or I’ve experienced loss, disappointment or feel robbed in an area God always says, “Don’t give up; draw near and remain connected to me”, for He is the great provider and restorer of hopes and dreams and His plans for us are always good. Being connected helps us become who we were created to be. He becomes our source of inspiration, information, revelation and everything we need can and is found in Him.
“You are complete in Him who is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:10 NKJV)
Today don’t waste time buffering in disconnection and separated from God’s power working in your life. Draw near to God, give Him space in your heart and trust in His loving kindness and goodness to cause amazing “fruit” to be produced in your life as you remain connected to Him.
“Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received!” (2 Peter 3-4 The Message Bible)
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns” (Philippians 1:6 NLT)
Prayer: Lord I put my trust in your loving care today and trust that you will lift me up and to help bring out the best in me in every area of my life. In Jesus name Amen.
