I love starting a new book or even beginning a new chapter in the one I’m reading, especially when the story builds well on the previous chapter and leads you into the next.
Every New Year resembles a new chapter in a book and an opportunity to build on last year's lessons and story.
It's the thought of beginning something new and taking the opportunity to fine-tune and reassess my dreams and goals that I love about a New Year. Plus, it's an ideal time to close the door on anything I don't want to carry with me in the next chapter of my story.
As you embark on another year, I want to encourage you to make choices that you will be happy with in your future. Give up being unhappy or having regrets and determine to fix your focus firmly ahead, knowing that God has planned in advance good things for you. As C.S Lewis says, "There are far, far better things ahead than anything you leave behind".
God has already anticipated and provided for every need we will ever have and put in us the ability to deal with anything we may face. Therefore we don't need to get into worry, striving or fear, but instead, practice learning to receive God's blessing, provision and answers, because "Everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by his divine power." (2 Peter 1:3 TPT)
Choose to be happy, close the door on regrets and anything or one you need to leave in your past (and keep it shut), and know that God has you covered. You have everything you need in Him and can do all things through His strength and power that is at work within you.
"I can do all things (which He has called me to do) through Him who strengthens and empowers me (to fulfil His purpose – I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace." (Philippians 4:13 AMP)
Prayer: Lord thank you for the New Year and the opportunity to write the next chapter of my story. I choose to close the door of the past, let go of regrets and choose to be happy. In Jesus name Amen.
