11 May – How To Hold Steady

This week I have been involved in negotiations which have meant a lot of discussions and emails. As I was praying about what course to take and the best way to move forward I felt the Lord say, “Hold Steady”.

Holding steady is the ability to maintain a steadiness and resolve even when under stress or pressure. It’s an important discipline and skill to have in life and could be likened to archery.

One of the keys to achieving the ultimate accuracy in archery is the ability to stabilise, hold and release the arrow at the optimum moment so as to hit the target. It is not possible to hit the target consistently if you don’t hold the bow steady.

To develop this type of steadiness in archery and any area of our life takes persistence, tenacity and the effort required to do something and keep believing even when it’s hard.

Learning to persevere in life and in our faith is an important part of living the life God has planned for us. When we fail to hold our resolve and steadiness amidst challenges we will be far more prone to give up, which is not something God wants for us. He doesn’t give up, He remains faithful and He always says, “Keep going, keep running your race, keep believing and keep moving forward with me.”

God wants us to fulfil the purpose for which He made us so that we would be able to live the full and overflowing life that He has planned and desires for us.

The bible says that persevering in our faith produces steadfastness. When this “steadfastness has its full effect it says it’s so, “that we may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2-4;12)

Today I encourage you to hold steady and build your resolve. God has a dream and destiny for you and will strengthen you to hold steady as you persevere until you reap a harvest. Hang in there, keep the vision before you and stay the course.

“We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” (Hebrews 6:12 NLT)

Prayer: Lord please strengthen and encourage me today to both hold steady and persevere so that at the appointed time I will reap the reward. Thankyou that I can do all things because you give me strength. In Jesus name Amen.
