One of the musicians, Phil Davidson, whom I manage, sent me a song today, and the lyrics talk about wanting to live fearless, which I think all of us deep down want to be like.
Primarily because fear is one of those things that attack and tries to sap your confidence and strength. The more you listen to fear’s voice, the more you begin to doubt God’s goodness, protection, and your ability, intellect and overall worth.
I’ve also learnt that fear has a distinct voice; it’s the voice of a thief who says, “you can’t do that; what if this happens?” ”You’re so unattractive, you’re going to fail, get hurt, sick, die, lose, or look like an idiot”.
To ensure we don’t allow fear to run rampant and steal from us, it pays to check in on what concerns we have in our lives and regularly ask ourselves, what are you afraid of, and where are you being limited because of fear? Because when we don’t deal with fear, it leads to anxiety and worries, limiting our potential and God’s purposes being fulfilled in our life.
The best way to overcome fear is to refuse to allow my heart to fear what Jesus has defeated for me. It strengthens my faith by reflecting on how much I am loved, which you do by knowing what God says in His word by spending time with Jesus.
We can also build our faith by applying the truth of God’s promises.
1.Find every promise in God’s word concerning your particular worry and fear.
Write God’s word down. Put it on your phone, whiteboard, the bathroom mirror, or wherever you will see it.
2. Speak God’s word out – faith comes from hearing. So every time fear rises or thoughts cause you to worry, get the promises of God’s word and speak them over your fear.
"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
3.Refocus on the future and what God has called you to do and become. Take every thought captive and align your thoughts with what God says. (2 Cor 10:5)
4.Give thanks – gratefulness gives a perspective of how big God is, you are loved, and all He has done for you already. (Philippians 4:6)
Perfect loves casts out all fear” (1 John 4:18)
Speak (or preach) to yourself throughout the day; speak out what is true rather than just the facts presenting themselves at this moment, regarding your situation rather than believing and being dictated to by fear. (Psalm 103:20)
Today, give fear a swift kick out the door so that you can get on with your day free from fear, negative voices and lies. For with God, all things are possible, and why should your heart fear what He has defeated? You have all the wisdom, strength and confidence you need in Him.
“So do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)
“God sends angels with special orders to protect you wherever you go, defending you from all harm.” (Psalm 91:11 TPT)
Prayer: Today, fear I am kicking you out the door. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I believe God’s promises are true, and He has me and every situation I face today in His hands. Thank you, Lord, that you love and care about me and that your angels watch over me and keep me in all my ways today. (Psalm 91:11) In Jesus name, Amen
