13 Sept – How To Have A New Life

The bible says, “For as He thinks in His heart so is He” (Proverbs 23:7), which is why it is very important what we think and believe about ourselves.

Daily affirmations or self-talk have transforming power. As you affirm what God says about you and renew your mind to align with the person you desire to be and all that Jesus has done and says is possible, transformation starts to happen.

The bible says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

Some keys to transformation are:

Read God’s Word – Find out who God says you are by reading what He says in the bible (see the affirmations below). Our past, mess-ups, and shame…everything passes away when you ask Jesus into your life. You are given a new life. Essentially our old self has been nailed to the cross just as Jesus was, and we have been born again.. brand new.

Your spirit knows you are a new creation, but your mind and emotions need to catch up with the truth of what Jesus has done in you.

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Visualizing- close your eyes and imagine yourself as God says you are. “See” yourself achieving your goals and being the best version of yourself. For example, if you’re a smoker, visualize yourself as a non-smoker daily. If you desire to be fit and healthy or in a loving relationship, begin to imagine yourself that way. As you focus on that image and what God says about your life, that image of yourself will replace the current one.

Every day think about what you desire to happen for the day. Then think upon and speak out God’s promises as you renew your thoughts and visualize what you want the day to look like.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

In the evenings, take some time to recall your wins instead of any failures and focus on the positives of your day. Reinforce the good and give your cares and disappointments to Jesus as you revisit His promises and what He says about your life.

Here are some positive affirmations of what God says about your life to help you move forward into all that you are created to be:

“I am a new creature in Christ: old things have passed away; behold, all things are new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

“No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and all those who rise up against me shall fall.” (Isaiah 54:17)

“I prosper in everything I put my hand to. I have prosperity in all areas of my life–spiritually, financially, mentally, and socially.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

“I take every thought captive unto the obedience of Jesus Christ, casting down every imagination and every high and lofty thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.” (2 Corinthians 10:5)

“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he; therefore, my thoughts are positive.” (Proverbs 23:7)

“I cast all my care on Jesus, for He cares for me.” (1 Peter 5:7)

“I don’t have a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

“I am creative because the Holy Spirit lives in me.” (John 14:26; 1 Corinthians 6:19)

“Jesus took up all my infirmities and carried all my diseases. I am healed.” (Isaiah 54:3; Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24)

As a man thinks, so shall He be. Start to tell a different story about who you are and begin believing and acting upon who God says you are.

As you visualize, believe and act upon what you know is God’s best for your life and what He says, your whole being and all of heaven will work to make it happen.

Prayer: Lord, thank you that with your help and wisdom, I am being transformed in every area of my life into the person you have created me to be. Would you please help me think, speak, and only act upon what you say about me today? In Jesus name Amen.
