All day I’ve been feeling to stop and pray, and as I’ve been thinking about a particular issue, I was reminded of a faith hero of mine George Mueller and how he approached prayer by searching in God’s word for a promise regarding what he was about to come to God in prayer for. By having God's promises he had something to stand on and because of that he saw a lot of answered prayers; over fifty thousand documented answers in his lifetime.
So tonight I've been walking the floor in prayer, asking God to intervene and make things right that have gotten out of whack in a situation. Walking the floor might seem strange, but it works especially when you have a bible open with God's promises held in front of you as you make your petitions to God. (Philippians 4:6)
There are always a lot of issues happening around us that no doubt need our attention in prayer to see change happen. But I’ve discovered over time that there are always the keys to what we may face in God’s word if we stop and take the time to enquire of Him and look for them.
Once we have that answer, God expects us to bring that word to Him and request what we need. The angels then get on board and harken to that word to bring the answer into our hands. (Psalm 103:20)
More often than we realize, God hears our prayers straight away. However, we do live in a bit of a battlefield, and there are other forces at work trying to hold up our answers and breakthrough's.
Just have a read of the account of Daniel when he enquired of the Lord, and his answer was sent straight away from heaven. However, the evil spirit over the area Daniel lived endeavoured to hold up his answer so that extra angelic help was needed to battle against this evil force so that Daniels’s answer could arrive – it took 21 days to come through. (Daniel 10:10-14)
I want to encourage you to take the time to enquire and seek God regarding the issues and the million decisions, guidance, and breakthroughs you will need in your life.
Search God’s word for the keys to your situation, take them to God in prayer, (walk the floor with your word and bible in hand- it helps sometimes), and then, when you have done all, stand firm and keep believing for the answer to come forth. God is faithful and cares about everything you face, so you can trust him to intervene, provide and respond as necessary.
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” (John 15:7)
“Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am [actively] watching over My word to fulfill it.” (Jeremiah 1:12)
"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.' (Ephesians 6:13)
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the answers in your word and your promises that never fail. Please help me to have a heart to understand and ears to hear so that when I come to you in prayer, I will see and receive what I need from you. I thank you that you hear and answer me today. In Jesus’ name Amen
