18 Dec - "Celebrate Your Wins This Christmas: Fuel Joy"

As the Christmas season draws near, it’s a perfect time to pause and reflect on the year behind us. There’s a saying that “success is a series of small wins.” Yet, in the busyness of pursuing goals and tackling the demands of life, we often overlook the power of those small victories. These seemingly minor moments—moments of progress, achievement, and growth—are a wellspring of joy and thankfulness that keep us moving forward.

However, many of us are wired to focus on “what’s next.” The next milestone, the next goal, the next challenge. It’s easy to dismiss the importance of pausing to celebrate our wins, but doing so brings energy, joy, and gratitude into our lives. Each win, no matter how small, is a marker of progress and evidence of God’s hand at work in our lives.

Think about the victories you’ve experienced this year:

  • Maybe it was committing to a healthier lifestyle or showing up consistently to exercise.

  • Perhaps it was pushing through a tough project at work, persevering with your studies, trying something new, or stepping out of your comfort zone.

  • Wins can be spiritual, like making time with Jesus a daily habit or sharing your faith with others

  • Or investing time in your family and friends or stepping up to encourage someone in need.

God celebrates milestones and victories. The Bible is full of examples of celebration—from the joyful gathering of shepherds and wise men at Jesus’ birth to the feasts and festivals God commanded Israel to observe.

Even the angels celebrated the birth of Jesus with loud songs of praise! These moments weren’t just symbolic; they were intentional pauses to honor what God was doing and to celebrate His goodness.

Jesus reminds us that He came to give us life—joyful, abundant life (John 10:10AMP).  He didn’t live a dull or somber life; He fully embraced moments of joy, celebration, and connection, and He invites us to celebrate not only in our relationship with Him but in every win and blessing we encounter.

This Christmas, take some time to reflect on your own wins. Write them down—big or small—and savour the progress you’ve made. Celebrate the steps forward, whether they’re milestones or baby steps, because these are the moments that fuel your journey. And as you celebrate, thank God for His faithfulness, knowing He delights in your progress and celebrates alongside you.

  • “At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, the Levites were sought out from where they lived and were brought to Jerusalem to celebrate joyfully the dedication with songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, harps and lyres.” (Nehemiah 12:27, NIV)

  • “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31, NIV)

  • “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10, NKJV)

Prayer: Lord, as Christmas approaches please help me to celebrate both the big and small wins in my life. Please open my eyes to the progress I’ve made, the steps forward I’ve taken, and the ways You’ve been working in my life. Let this season be filled with gratitude and celebration, as I remember all that you have done for me and in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
