I woke up one morning this week feeling a little overwhelmed by the thoughts swirling in my mind.
The night before, I had tried to leave my concerns in God’s hands, praying and trusting that He would take care of them. But as soon as I woke up, those same worries, questions, and anxious thoughts rushed back in like an uninvited guest.
Feeling unsettled, I asked God for help. Almost immediately, I sensed His gentle whisper: “Where did you leave your peace?”
I paused. My peace? That would be nice right about now. But as I thought about it, I realized I had left it behind somewhere—much further back down the road than I cared to admit.
A Peace That Remains
Jesus speaks a lot about peace. He is even called the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), and He offers to exchange our worries, fears, and anxieties for His peace.
The kind of peace Jesus gives isn’t fleeting or circumstantial like the world’s version of peace. It’s not just a temporary feeling when everything is going well. Instead, His peace is a deep, unshakable calm that surpasses our understanding. It doesn’t depend on things going our way or always being in a peaceful environment (though those things are nice when they happen).
Unlike the world’s peace, which comes and goes, Jesus gives a peace that remains.
So if we find ourselves anxious, it’s not because Jesus has left us or taken His peace away. It’s because we’ve put it down somewhere along the path and picked up fear, worry, or stress instead. His peace is a gift, a promise, and a covenant between Him and us. If we are lacking peace, it’s usually because we’ve either never fully received it or we’ve exchanged it for anxiety and fear.
Holding On to His Peace
Today, I encourage you—when life throws challenges your way, and peace seems to slip through your fingers—fix your eyes on Jesus. His peace is a precious gift. Hold onto it, treasure it, and refuse to let go. If you realize you’re carrying burdens that are weighing you down, give them to Jesus. Fill your heart and mind with His promises.
Take a moment and check where your peace is today. Did you drop it somewhere? Have you ever truly known it?
Because the good news is, Jesus offers His peace to you right now. All He asks is for you to give Him the things that are cluttering your heart and mind, so He can carry them for you. Open your heart and simply ask:
“Jesus, I ask for Your peace to fill my life.”
And then, trust Him to give you the peace that remains.

Prayer:
Lord, I ask for Your peace to fill my heart and mind today. I give You all my concerns and worries (be specific if you need to), and I trust that You are faithful to work all things together for my good. Thank You for Your perfect peace that remains, no matter what. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
