23 July - I Believe In Miracles

I believe in miracles because Jesus performed miracles, and I believe in Him.

Many times in God's Word, we can read accounts of God supernaturally overriding natural forces to get to someone who believed in His promises and what they needed or were asking for and seeing amazing answers.

From making a borrowed axe head float on water to ensure a man stayed out of debt, turning water into wine to save embarrassment at a wedding, or opening blind eyes and raising the dead to life, God fulfils his promises. The Bible says Jesus healed all who came to Him. (Matthew 15:30) He opened blind eyes and deaf ears and healed the paralytics, lepers, and the woman who had been bleeding for twelve years. He restored to health the child who had been having seizures, cured the woman bedridden with fever, and straightened a deformed and crooked hand. He raised a young girl back to life, interrupted a funeral procession to restore a young man to life, and resurrected a man who had been dead for three days. I've experienced, witnessed, and prayed for many people over the years to be healed and provided for as Jesus moved in their lives, just as he moved in the accounts recorded in the Bible. I've seen legs grow, deaf ears open, and lepers have their bodies restored. I've seen cancer disappear, pain eradicated, and asthma and chronic joint conditions healed. I've witnessed money and food multiply, and back complaints, nerve and tissue damage, gastro issues, allergies, and skin conditions, disappear as we've prayed for Jesus to touch lives. I believe, however, not primarily because of how much I can testify to what Jesus has done in and through my life but because that is what He has promised in His Word.

It's one of the primary reasons Jesus died and rose again. He came to destroy the works of the devil, and lack, sickness, disease, and brokenness all illustrate the devil at work. (1 John 3:8) God doesn't send sickness and disease; he heals them. He doesn't test us with pain and suffering; he comforts, provides and restores what has been stolen or missing from us.

"But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,' declares the LORD." (Jeremiah 30:17) "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10)

If you need a miracle or healing, find the promise in God's word and align your life with what He says. Then pray and keep thanking Him and praying until something happens. Jesus prayed twice for the blind man at Bethsaida (Mark 8:22-25), so it's okay to pray more than once. I believe in miracles and in the God who heals because He says it, I've seen it, and I'm a living walking testimony that these things still happen today. I pray that you would experience and know that for every need and prayer you have for yourself and others in your world today.

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall not pass away." (Matthew 24:35) "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him." (1 John 5:14)
