24 Oct - "Finding Purpose In Every Piece - Trusting the Ultimate Puzzle Master"

I recently did a mosaics class - a mosaic is a pattern or image made of small regular or irregular pieces of coloured stone, glass or ceramic, held in place by plaster/mortar, and covering a surface. The key part of mosaics is the requirement to place the appropriate fitting piece of cut glass tile or ceramic in the correct spot in your design, much like putting a puzzle piece in the correct place in a puzzle.

Now I’m not great at puzzles; just ask all of my kids and our experience doing puzzles at drop off time at Kindy and Pre-school. I was the parent frantically trying to help complete the puzzle with my lovely little person, before parents were ushered out the door.

I did not calculate this in my enrollment in a mosaics class and quickly learnt the key to this art form is being able to:

  1. Cut the pieces correctly (without injuring yourself).

  2. Place each piece carefully in its rightful place in the design.

While working on my mosaic, it struck me how much life can feel like a giant puzzle. Sometimes, it feels like pieces are missing or don’t seem to fit anywhere in our life. But the beautiful truth is that Jesus is the ultimate puzzle master who is very adept at creating something beautiful from all our lives pieces, including our broken, mismatched, or seemingly misplaced pieces.

Even when life feels chaotic or we can’t make sense of it, we can trust in His ability to make all things beautiful in their time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). He takes every piece of our lives and promised in His hands He will create a masterpiece. (Ephesians 2:10).

Today, I encourage you to let Jesus take hold of all the pieces of your life. He knows how to make something beautiful and unique with them and make sense of even the most confusing, complicated and messy parts of our life.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV

"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” — Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being the master craftsman of my life. Please help me to trust You with the pieces, and especially those that don’t seem to fit, and remind me that you are always at work creating something beautiful, even when I can’t see it. In Jesus name Amen
