God so wants us to enjoy Him. A funny thought when we usually are busy with an array of demands and expectations in our lives. However, in amongst all this hurry, scurry and flurry, God says take time to enjoy knowing Him because He loves us.
We don't have to do anything to earn or keep that love. He loves us. All we need to experience that love is to turn our focus towards Him and let ourselves be loved and to be in His love.
I remember years ago when we had just had our first daughter Anna, and I wondered how to do everything and be everything.
God spoke to me and said, "Just "be" instead of do". Being rather than doing!" What a relief that was. God didn't expect me to do anything simply to be; to be in His presence, be joyful, and be happy.
Often when I am busy, I will hear those words whispered again. "Just be, don't do". When I notice and stop "doing", everything that needs to happen in my world flows. When I take my attention off Him and get into striving and doing, I always end up in a "pickle".
We do need to practice just "being" because the alternative is just a whole lot of incessant "doing", and where is the peace and joy in that?
"In Your presence is fullness of Joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore". (Psalm 16:11)
Spend today "being" in His presence, where you'll find fullness of joy.
Prayer: Lord, please help me to slow down long enough to "be" today and that I would know fullness of joy in your presence. In Jesus name Amen
