Every time I move house, I write down all the things that I’d like in the house we are to live in. Fortunately for me, God knows what I need and will be helpful more than I do, which I am really grateful for. I may overlook or miss things, but he does not.
He knows what we need and is going to benefit us well before we have even thought of some things.
Today, I was reminded of this as one of our sons cleaned his bathroom. With three daughters and two sons all living at home, the thought of having five kids sharing one bathroom between them all is not great. It would have been fine, but God knew how he could make it easier, so in choosing our house, he brought us to a home with which had a guest wing with a bathroom for the boys.
We can often look at our future or a circumstance and think in our own wisdom what we are going to require or want, which is totally reasonable as we need to be able to make wise decisions and assess situations for ourselves as we grow and mature in life. However, when we know Jesus and have practiced learning to hear his voice, we also have what I call a heavenly advantage.
That means we can tap into heaven’s wisdom and perspective, seeing and knowing things that other’s might not.
This heavenly advantage is also where visions, dreams, and words of knowledge about a particular person or situation comes into play. The everyday supernatural part of knowing Jesus causes your faith to take on a whole new realm.
An example is when my husband was praying one day and suddenly started seeing in his mind – like an awake dream, a picture of a particular place on a map. In his vision he saw that they were drilling for oil in this spot. He looked for the place on the map and worked out which company owned the rights to drill in the there.
He then researched the company, prayed for some guidance and chose to buy some shares in the company. Within a few months those shares had doubled in value, and he was able to sell them for a sizable profit, meeting an immediate need we had at the time.
God knows what you need, is looking for ways to bless you because He really does care about even the smallest details of your life. Sometimes we may feel like He might be too busy to bother with the little things that may not seem that important in the big scheme of things, like having an extra bathroom, so your kids don’t squabble as much, but I don’t think God sees it that way.
He cares and wants to bless you far more than you may expect today, and He has gone before you with a plan for you to walk in.
He’s gone behind you to cover any of the mess up’s or hurts you may have experienced, and he is in your present, walking alongside you to guide you in the way to go. If you listen and choose to seek him, you’ll hear and see things that make every day like an adventure and so much better for him being involved because He is always on set up, working to bless and position you in the right time and place.
“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” (Psalm 37:23-24)
“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)
‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams” (Acts 2:17)
Prayer: Lord, thank you for that you have everything in your hands and that you see ahead so that you can lead me in the way to go. Please help me learn to listen to you so I can get to know your voice. In Jesus name, Amen.
