31 October - Speak Up

I had a dream last night where I had been captured. In my dream, I couldn’t speak due to fear, even though help was right in front of me. Finally, I found my voice and called out, and instantly, I was rescued.

I believe that Jesus often speaks to us in dreams, and the point that stood out to me about my dream today is that help was at hand as soon as I started speaking and asking for it. The person who had captured me had snuck in through the window and hid, waiting for an opportune moment to strike and try to harm me. But when I found my voice, started declaring, speaking out about their plot, and asking for assistance, the situation instantly changed, and I was rescued and restored.

We all have the ability to speak out, declare when something is amiss, and ask for help when needed. God says His help is at hand and encourages us to be on the offensive—to speak, declare, and ask for what we need and want. I wanted help in my dream, and the moment I alerted others, help arrived in the form of Jesus.

Today, I encourage you not to stay quiet when you need to declare and speak. To “declare” is to state (out loud) a fact, and to “decree” is to issue an authoritative command.

Our words and declarations regarding our life and circumstances are vital and a key to breakthroughs and open doors in our own and others’ lives. We all have the ability to express what we believe and to raise our voice when needed to right wrongs or to get things done, so I encourage you to use your “voice” to ask for assistance and to declare good things that are beneficial to building others up, rather than remaining silent.

Your “voice” is important, and unfortunately, it’s often only when our ability to use it is hindered or impacted negatively that we realize just how important it is.

“You shall also decree a thing, and it shall be established to you. Light shall shine on your ways.” (Job 22:28 NLT)

Lord, thank You for reminding me of the power You’ve given me to speak up and call on You. Help me to find my voice when fear tries to silence me and to boldly declare Your truth in every situation. I ask for strength to speak out when things aren’t right and courage to ask for help when I need it. May my words bring light, hope, and healing to those around me. Thank You for always being near and ready to rescue. In Jesus' name, Amen.
