As a new year begins there is a lot of discussion around goals and what people want to do, see, experience and achieve in the next twelve months.
But what if you forget about 12-month plans—and think 12 weeks instead! I've discovered breaking your year into 12-week chunks keeps your focus sharp and your energy high.
Then every 12 weeks, you can celebrate your wins, reset, and start fresh. No more waiting until the end of the year and December to finish strong—you make every week count! Think about it like a 12 week challenge!
Start With Vision
God has big plans for your life, and a great place to start making plans is by asking Him to show you your purpose and the dreams He has placed in your heart. They are usually those things you keep thinking about and coming back to when you think about your life.
Write down these dreams and goals, then map out some steps and what you need to do in the next 12 weeks to get closer to them.
Questions To Help You Dream Big
What do you want your life to look like?
What legacy do you want to leave?
How do you want your faith, relationships, and career to grow?
What interests do you want to pursue?
Write it down and make it plain so you can run with it! (Habakkuk 2:2; Ephesians 2:10)
Why Plans Matter
Making plans helps you stay focused, dream bigger, and take real steps toward your goals. It’s easy to coast through life, but plans give you direction. They help you:
Revisit dreams you’ve put on the back burner.
Prioritize what really matters.
Seek God for wisdom and guidance.
Build momentum and avoid distractions.
God’s Word says He can do far, far more than we can imagine, ask think or imagine, (Ephesians 3:20 NLT). So ask Him for wisdom, trust His plan, and watch Him show up in amazing ways as you step out.
Ready To Start?
Don’t let life just happen—get intentional. Ask God to guide your steps, and take action. He knows the dreams in your heart and wants to help you make them happen.
Jesus said, "My purpose is to give you a rich. overflowing, abundant and satisfying life." (John 10:10 NLT)
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "Plans to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT)
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for this day and your plan for my life. Help me to reflect, dream big, and take action with your wisdom leading the way. Please keep my heart and thoughts focused on what matters most and give me the courage to pursue what you have placed in my heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
